How to Match Eyeshadow to Lipstick

With so many shades of lipstick and even more eye shadow options available in the market today, it's normal to feel overwhelmed while figuring out the perfect pair of eye shadow and lipstick color. Even though makeup is a form of self-expression and you're free to pick and choose the colors you want to play with, some colors just work together and create a gorgeous combination.

 

There are 2 color types: warm colors and cool colors. warm colors include red, yellow, and orange. evoke warmth because they remind us of things like the sun or fire. cool colors include blue, green, and purple. evoke a cool feeling because they remind us of things like water or grass.


When you are trying to find a pair of colors that go well together, you should consider the following:

                                                             YOUR SKIN TONE

 

There are some skin tone variations fair, medium, tan and deep. There are different color pairs for each skin tone usually for lipstick light pink, coral, peach, nude, and dusty red colors can be used for fair skin.

And rose, berry, cherry red, and mauve lipstick colors look gorgeous with a medium skin tone.

If you have a tan skin tone try to use deep pink, bright red, and most other colors for lipstick.

Finally, for deep skin tones, you can use plum, caramel, wine, and blue-based reds.

                                                             YOUR LIP SIZE

Make sure to watch your lip size. If you have thin lips, avoid dark and flashy lipstick colors. They will only make your lips look even thinner. Try applying glosses and creamy lipsticks. For plump lips, avoid lipstick shades that are too light and glossy, or glittery textures.

                                                             YOUR EYE COLOR

If you're using a warm color on your eyes, use warm-toned lipstick.

Also, you can use the opposite color on the color wheel for dramatic effect. As an example, green and gold eye shadow looks great with red or bright coral colors.

Quick tip, try to use colors with the same color variation in your eye colors don't be afraid to experiment if you have both my makeup then keep the lips nude.

OPPOSITES ATTRACT

Another good rule of thumb is that if you have bold eye makeup, then keep the lips nude. And if you have little color on the eyes, then go for brighter lips. But if you're looking for a full glam look then you can do bold eyes and lips.
